Garden of Life, SunWarrior, Natural News reach industry-leading agreement for the future of brown rice protein
Garden of Life and SunWarrior have agreed that all their protein products will achieve the following heavy metals limits no later than July 1, 2015 (and in reality, we will all very likely see these improvements much sooner due to the dedication of these companies to taking immediate action):

Agreed concentration limits in the final protein products:

Lead limit: 250 ppb
Tungsten limit: 50 ppb
Cadmium limit: 1000 ppb
Mercury limit: 50 ppb

These limits were mutually agreed upon by all three parties, and they represent the most progressive, innovative, self-imposed quality control limits that have ever been announced in the natural products industry.

To achieve these goals, Garden of Life has committed to visiting each farm site where their brown rice material is grown and testing the water feeding each site for possible environmental contaminants including lead, cadmium, tungsten and mercury. Sunwarrior has also committed to being actively involved in the monitoring and site certification effort.

As is now obvious, this is a tremendous victory for health product consumers because it means the largest importers and retailers of brown rice protein material are now taking proactive steps to meet specific targets for product composition.

UN – Business needs to play full part in tackling climate change

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon kept up the drumbeat for business to play its full part in tackling climate change and promoting sustainable development for a second day today, telling the World Economic Forum in Davos that investments now will generate major savings for tomorrow. “The finance community is a key player. We need trillions of dollars of investment to move from the brown to the green economy,” the United Nations chief told a session on Climate, Growth and Development, citing four areas for action. “First, we need investors, banks and other financial service providers to increase finance flows into low-carbon energy and climate-resilient infrastructure, including through setting portfolio targets and increasing the deployment of climate bonds. Second, we need to decrease the flow of finance to carbon-intensive and obsolete technologies and business practices.”

The Supreme Court reaffirms our right to clean health and a clean Pennsylvania

“By any responsible account, the exploitation of the Marcellus Shale Formation will produce a detrimental effect on the environment, on the people, their children, and the future generations, and potentially on the public purse, perhaps rivaling the environmental effects of coal extraction.”

Chief Justice Ronald Castille, Pennsylvania Supreme Court
